Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholar
I traveled to Japan in October as a Japan Fulbright Memorial Scholar.
My journey began with a brief stay in San Francisco and then on to
Tokyo where I and other educators from the United States met with
Japanese educators for a variety of lectures and symposiums. After a
week in Tokyo, we traveled individually throughout Japan according to
an itinerary designed around our specific interests. I visited Fukui
University and met with the school's President, Dean, Faculty and
select students. I also visited an Elementary, Jr. High and High schools.
Finally, I stayed with a Japanese Family in Sakai before returning for
my final week in Tokyo. I also received a grant from the Junior League
of Dallas to fund my "follow-on" project when I returned to the US. This
project was called Oak Cliff Meets Japan.
